Look for the Pearl's Grand Reopening in fall 2018!
6815 Cypresswood Drive
Spring, TX 77379
The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is delighted to announce that on November 17 (grand re-opening), its doors were once again open to the community. “Through the strong support and dedication of the community, the Pearl has been restored,” said Ani Boyajian, Director of the Pearl Fincher MFA. “We look forward to serving the Houston community from the sparkling-new space, with exciting art and educational programming for all to enjoy.”
Located at 6815 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is in the heart of the Cypress Creek Cultural District. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is always free, but a suggested donation of $5 per adult is appreciated. Annual memberships are available starting at just $30, with a variety of levels and benefits.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Pearl, and the museum has been restored to the original beauty of its opening day in 2008. Gleaming wood floors, glass gallery doors and serene exhibit spaces are all back, along with improved spaces for art classes and other events. A special thank you goes to Harris County for the major role they have played in restoring great art and art education within our community.
Opening Exhibition: The Pearl’s grand re-opening exhibition will be selections from the Chip Hosek Collection of American Art.
An American View Revisited: The Hosek Collection of American Art is the second opportunity the Pearl has had to showcase the extensive pieces of Pearland collector Howard (Chip) Hosek, Jr. Originally exhibited at the Pearl in the fall of 2009, the Hosek Collection has continued to expand as Chip has passionately sought to purchase works of art that hold special interest to him and present the American story.
Highlighted in the exhibition are works from four members of an important family in American art: The Wyeth Family, including N.C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth and Henriette Wyeth Hurd. Additional pieces by Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol and numerous other American artists are represented in more than 50 outstanding works that will be featured in this exhibition.
“The grand re-opening exhibition of paintings from the Chip Hosek Collection of American Art will be breathtaking,” said Boyajian. “Everyone is invited to come see this spectacular exhibition and visit the restored Pearl.” Docent-led tours are available; for details please call the museum at (281) 376-6322 or email education@pearlmfa.org.
Classes and Family Days
Throughout its restoration, the Pearl has continued to hold classes and Family Days at other locations in the community. The Pearl’s deep appreciation goes to Barbara Bush Branch Library, Lone Star College—Tomball, Northwoods Presbyterian Church, Cypress Creek Christian Community Center, and St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church for welcoming the museum into their facilities over the past 15 months. Museum activities and events will now be brought back to the Pearl, with the first Family Day scheduled for Saturday, December 8 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. A list of art classes and other events is available at www.pearlmfa.org.
